When you commission a portrait from your photo with Jackson Portraits you get more than a digitally manipulated replica of your photo. Each portrait is digitally painted by me with great care and attention to detail. Once the painting process is completed, your portrait will be printed on a high quality cotton-poly blend canvas, treated with a UV and water resistant coating, and stretched on a 1 1/2″ frame. The canvas gets a full gallery wrap, meaning that all edges of the frame are covered and no staples will be visible. The gallery wrap combined with an extra thick frame adds dimension and enhances the aesthetic appeal of your portrait.

Meet the Artist
Hi, I’m ChristaLynn Jackson, an artist residing in northwestern Montana and a dog mom of two beautiful blue heelers whom are often the subjects of my craft.
I have practiced a wide array of art since I was a young child, from using leaves, twigs and flowers to make natural art, to one stroke painting, to photography, and even blacksmithing. While I will always love to create things with my hands, I have developed a passion for digital painting and portraiture. What I love about digital painting is that it allows me to turn ordinary photographs into works of art that have a semblance of traditional oil paintings. Since I use photographs to create my portraits I am able to preserve the unique characteristics of people and pets more accurately than if they were painted by hand.

About the Process
There are as many different styles and forms of digital art as there are traditional art. The type that I specialize in is called digital painting.
Although digital painting is done with a computer program, the process I use is very similar to the way a traditional painter blends layers of paint to create the desired texture and dimension, thus creating an authentic work of art. This involves time and practice. No one-click filters are used here.
My digital paintings start with a photograph which I enhance, color correct, fix shadows, and remove red eye and any other undesirable inclusions, just like a professional photographer would. I then go through the painting process which involves building layers on the original photo with different tools and techniques that imitate actual brush strokes. The finished painting closely resembles an actual oil painting while preserving the subjects’ unique features and expressions in a way that is achieved only by highly skilled artists. Once the digital painting is complete it is printed on museum quality canvas, treated with a UV and water resistant varnish, and gallery wrapped on a 1 1/2″ frame. This provides you with a beautiful and timeless piece of art that you can be proud to show off in your home.
